The KRAS signaling pathway controls cell proliferation, survival, and growth. When the KRAS gene coding for the K-Ras protein mutates, abnormal activation of this pathway can result in uncontrolled cell proliferation, resulting in tumor growth. KRAS, an oncogene, is therefore a valuable target for research and drug development.
