For the launch of their booth at ISCT 2025 in New Orleans, and the debut of their new website, VitaCyte partnered with XVIVO to create a two-minute medical animation that details the science of cell recovery. Working with the VitaCyte team is always a highlight for us, and this project was a perfect mix of collaboration and science communication.

The animation illustrates how purified collagenase and protease enzymes work together to release cells from tissue, showing how each step in the process contributes to higher viable cell yield. It highlights VitaCyte’s mechanistic model, first proposed in 2011, which demonstrated why neutral protease activity is essential for successful cell isolation.
From the extracellular matrix “jungle” that holds cells in place, to the sequence of Class I and Class II collagenase activity that exposes and frees them, every part of the story was visualized to make the process clear and engaging. The result helps audiences see how purified-defined enzymes and optimal protease activity lead to more effective cell recovery.

The animation premiered at ISCT 2025 and now lives on VitaCyte’s website, giving their team a powerful and accessible tool to communicate what sets their science apart. Always a pleasure working with the wonderful VitaCyte team to help audiences understand and remember the science of cell recovery.
