Illustration of a cell featuring various organelles and processes integral to cancer biology. It displays ribosomes, nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and proteins in synthesis and transport. Arrows illuminate pathways and interactions within the cellular structure against a dark background.

Cancers are marked by an elevated rate of cell replication; this is often a result of an abnormal presentation of particular cell signaling pathways. Some treatments for cancer modulate these overactive pathways by targeting certain pathway essential proteins, through inhibition of function, post-transcription modifications, gene therapy and epigenetic modulation.
