mRNAs as Medicines Animation

Moderna was creating a curriculum to inspire and educate learners about the opportunity mRNA presents as a medicine. The objective was to create an engaging online lecture that would serve both internal company training and public education. For XVIVO, it involved producing over 30 minutes of high-quality 3D animation focusing on mRNA technology, molecular and cellular processes, and therapeutic advancements.

Our team collaborated closely with Melissa J. Moore, Moderna’s CSO Emeritus & Dean of Moderna University, and Amy Vanko, Moderna’s Director of Learning and Development, to bring key moments of the lecture to life. The process began with brainstorming about visuals that would enhance the narration. From there we moved onto research and storyboards, balancing accuracy and drama as we designed scenes with detailed structures and expansive cellular landscapes.

We then moved to modeling and animating. From thousands of ribosomes churning out proteins, to the exploration of harnessing cytotoxic T cells with new therapies, our animations provided a comprehensive and intriguing learning experience.

Moderna’s VP of Learning, Molly Nagler, said, “Thank you for all the great work you have done on mRNA’s as Medicines. The feedback from Moderna learners is rapturous, and we are seeing just how hungry our employees are for beautiful, accessible learning about mRNA science. Thank you for making this dream a reality!”

Melissa Moore said, “From the outset, XVIVO impressed us with their professionalism, scientific accuracy, and creative talent. I have collaborated with many companies over the years, and I can confidently say that XVIVO is among the best. Their expertise and enthusiasm were instrumental to the success of our program.”
