Blood-Brain Barrier

This editorial image was created for Roche’s pRED to describe their Brain Shuttle technology. The illustration describes the maze-like challenges of delivering an antibody therapeutic across the blood-brain barrier. View our “Brain Shuttle” animation to learn more about the blood-brain barrier and the mechanism of action of Roche’s novel Roche Brain shuttle engineering platform.

BRAIN SHUTTLE

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a highly selective membrane system that prevents unwanted passage of molecules into the brain extracellular fluid. Consequently, the BBB also significantly hinders the effectiveness of drugs used to treat a number of neurological disorders. Roche has engineered a protein module that can greatly enhance the passage of therapeutic agents across the blood-brain barrier. This 3D medical animation depicts the mechanism by which the “Brain Shuttle” module operates.

Peering into the Brain: Neuralink’s brain-machine interface

XVIVO was recently tasked with creating an animation that provides a 30,000-foot overview of neurophysiological signaling in the human brain to help the team at Neuralink describe the science that underpins their BMI device development.

XVIVO and PBS Present: My Love Affair with the Brain

On March 9th, your knowledge of the human brain will be challenged and revitalized through years of research and understanding conjured by the brilliant Dr.Marian Diamond. With over two million dedicated YouTube followers and a penchant for toting around a brain in a box, her special is bound to astound viewers. The PBS documentary and …

mRNAs as Medicines Animation

Moderna was creating a curriculum to inspire and educate learners about the opportunity mRNA presents as a medicine. The objective was to create an engaging online lecture that would serve both internal company training and public education. For XVIVO, it involved producing over 30 minutes of high-quality 3D animation focusing on mRNA technology, molecular and cellular processes, and therapeutic advancements.

KV7 MOA Animation

Biohaven Pharmaceuticals and XVIVO teamed up again, this time to create a mechanism of action animation for BHV-7000, their recently-acquired Kv7 activator. The BHV-7000 molecule blocks the action of the voltage-gated Kv7 potassium ion channel, which exquisitely regulates the excitability of neurons in the central nervous system.

THE SCIENCE OF OMEGA-3 HEALTH

Prevention Pharma partnered with XVIVO to communicate the science behind their product, OMAX3 The Ultra-Pure Omega-3 Supplement.

ORGANOIDS

Organoids can be made to resemble organs or tissues such as gut, kidney, pancreas, liver, breast, prostate, and even brain tissue, all complete with accurate micro-anatomy. Due to their amazing ability to self-organize into tissue structures, researchers at Weill Cornell Medicine have developed a way to grow organoid structures that mimic actual patients’ tumors, and allow our researchers to study how different cancers develop, change, and might respond to various drug therapies.

GLUTAMATE MODULATION

Glutamate is the most abundant excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. Release of glutamate is essential for normal function of neurons, but the levels of this neurotransmitter must be tightly regulated to avoid toxic effects on neurons. XVIVO partnered with Biohaven to animate the glutamate story.

NEURALINK Animation

XVIVO created an animation that provides a 30,000-foot overview of neurophysiological signaling in the human brain to help the team at Neuralink describe the science that underpins their brain-machine interface development.
