Listerine Dental Biofilm, Dysbiosis & Disease – A VR Experience
It’s all about the biofilm. Over 700 different species are found in the human oral microbiome, growing, communicating and thriving in a complex, sticky biofilm community known as dental plaque. Dive into the biofilm with us as we explore the balance between the good and the bad bacteria, and how proper oral hygiene – brushing, cleaning between your teeth and rinsing – can help keep your dental biofilm thin and healthy! Otherwise, the bad bacteria will flourish leading to dysbiosis and disease. Get immersed in your mouth in an incredible VR experience that was unveiled at the Pacific Dental Conference.
In this VR experience, dentists and dental hygienists are able to explore Listerine’s Site-wise analysis from inside the mouth. Using a handheld controller, the users can examine each tooth to discover the results. By revealing the data, the user can compare the combined effectiveness of mechanical methods with essential oil-containing mouth rinse, such as LISTERINE® Antiseptic, vs mechanical methods alone, in achieving site-specific, healthy gingival tissue.
Celluverse is a fully-interactive experience running on an Oculus Rift. In this experience, you are a drug delivery agent who is miniaturized and inserted into a cell. Once in the cell, your job is to stop mutated tyrosine kinases from signaling to the nucleus, thus preventing the cell from becoming cancerous.
As early as the 3rd century BC, scientists dedicated their lives to understand our innermost workings. But, thanks to virtual reality, you don’t need to be a scientist to discover how the body works on the cellular level. XVIVO Scientific Animation and YouTube educator, Tyler DeWitt coupled with a generous grant from Google Making & Science Team have created Cellscape an immersive, educational 3D virtual reality tour that takes a look inside a human cell.
XVIVO helped Vroggo take the traditional Science Lab to a whole new level. Students travel on an immersive virtual journey inside the human body. Their mission: to save a living human cell by helping mitochondria make energy. Beginning in a virtual “lab room,” they are briefed on the inner workings of the cell. Then the class gets shrunken down and transported into the cell itself, where they race against the clock to achieve their mission! Teachers interact and talk with the students through a tablet console where they can shape and guide the entire experience. The students’ knowledge is then put to the test with a final quiz. Developed in partnership with the NY Hall of Science, this content is the first in a series and was piloted with over 3,000 students in New York with outstanding results.

Novocure – TTFields: from Science to Life – Touch Screen Application
This touch screen program was featured at Novocure’s booth at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting. The application provided an interactive experience for viewers as they learned about Tumor Treating Fields through select videos, simulations and clinical data. Tumor Treating Fields, or TTF, attack dividing cancer cells causing a cascade of effects at various phases of the cell cycle, preventing mitosis and selectively killing them.
Over the years XVIVO has been involved in many exciting projects, working alongside top researchers, filmmakers, and thought leaders. Please click on the link below to see one of these select projects.
