Principia Biopharma tasked XVIVO with creating an accurate and engaging animation that could quickly help the viewer understand their Tailored Covalency platform. The magic of Principia’s platform is the use of covalent bonding to create a ‘double lock and key’ interaction between their novel small molecules and the target. The viewer can easily see the differences in bonding dynamics between traditional small molecules vs. Principia’s molecules with the targets, an effect that is much harder to describe with static images and text. The implications for this double bonding with Principia’s molecules are possible improvements in the safety profile and longer half-life and reduced dosing. This animation smoothly transitions the viewer from a simulated researcher’s desk to a 3D environment with drug molecules and targets, to a human body, and finally concluding at an oral pill.

A stack of papers titled Small Molecule Drug Design features an abstract illustration with arrows pointing to different sections, highlighting tailored covalency. Various small objects, including a pencil and scattered shavings, are nearby on the dark surface.
Against a soft, blurred background, a molecular structure is depicted with the text Precision Bonding on the left. The central molecule features complex shapes and vibrant colors, illustrating tailored covalency for enhanced chemical interactions.
